Men’s Basketball Falls to Wartburg

LORAS COLLEGE – A chance to play in the Iowa Conference Championships were on the line at the AWC for the men’s hoops team….the Duhawks versus the Wartburg Knights.

As the crowd was on their feet last Thursday, it was looking to be a neck and neck battle. Loras senior Danny Quinn coming in on a solid layup in the first half. His 2-pointer snatched a lead for the Duhawks 43-36.

At halftime, the Duhawks were following by 10 points. And in comes Justin VanWambeke, scoring 19 points to give them a fighting chance.

The intensity reached a high in the last minute of the game….when freshman Matt Dacy-Seijo drains it from beyond the arc, bringing the score 88-87 Warburg.

The Duhawks continued to power through….but it wasn’t enough. With Jordan Cannon of Wartburg sealing the win for the Knights, leaving the score 92-89. Duhawks end their season with a record of 18 and 9.
