Making an Impact

LORAS COLLEGE –┬áLori Obendorf has been known for her 6’2 frame on the court. She also has been known for her ability to get up and block an opponents shot. With 71 blocks in 23 games (and counting) Lori has capitalized on role as protector of the paint making the opposition think twice before putting up a shot against her.

“Being tall helps,” says Lori, but it’s not everything. “I practice everyday my defending. Being in the right position to contest the shot and maybe even get a hand on it.” Coach Justin Heinzen praises Obendorf’s ability to stand tall when contact is made and have consistent technique. “She allows us to get out and run which benefits us because of our guard play.”

One cannot forget the impact Lori makes on the other end. “She had to sit behind some great offensive forwards, Katie Langmeier and Victoria May,” says Coach Heinzen, “but now that she gets the majority of the playing time, she has capitalized on both ends of the court.”
