Duhawk Football Fall Short at Home Opener

DUBUQUE- Duhawk football charged into their first home opener on Saturday against the Aurora Spartans.

As the team takes the field on their home turf for the first time this season, they are all fired up and ready to go.

In the first quarter, the Spartans are taking charge. Refusing to let the Duhawks through, they take the lead 3-0.

Forcing to make a comeback in the second, it was Loras’s Noah Sigwarth completing an¬†outstanding 40 yard pass to senior Josh Schulte, and making it a successful Duhawk touchdown!

Unfortunately, the Spartans were too much to handle, and the Duhawks pass the win to Aurora 31-26 for the final.

“You know, it’s tough. Tough loss today,” senior Ike Cloward explains. “But you know, we didn’t give up. We just kept fighting. There’s never a point in that game where we didn’t think we would come out with that W. But you know, things just happen, and we got to live with it.”

Loras will head over the hill to take on the University of Dubuque Spartans this Saturday at 7pm.
