Cross Country Running for the Ranks

DUBUQUE,Iowa– Both the Men’s and Women’s Cross Country team are nationally ranked going into their seasons. The Men are ranked 5th in D3 and the Women are ranked 30th.

All- American Audrey Miller talked with Reporter Jack Carroll on the preseason hype. Miller says, “After last season, having such a great race and doing so well at regionals ┬áthat if we do well at regionals this year it won’t shock anyone.

The women ran at the Elmhurst Invitational on Saturday and placed first. Miller finished first with a time of 14:18 and Averi Leitzen finished 5th with a time of 15:55. This was Leitzen’s first ever race.

On the men’s side, Mason Tope reflected on the rankings when he says, “It is just going to fuel our fire and our focus so as long as we stay motivated, it is just going to be great.

The men also ran at the Elmhurst Invitational and finished 5th. Justin Adams was the first Duhawk to cross the line in 11th place with a time of 19:17. Preston Kauder wasn’t far behind him finishing 23rd with a time of 20:00.

Both teams travel to Notre Dame on Friday, the 16th for their next race.
