Rare Orange Lobster

DUBUQUE- An unfamiliar animal recently found a new home at the National Mississippi River Museum & Aquarium. The Aquarium is home to around 1,500 animals and 200 different species, now including one rare orange lobster.

The museum planned to add a lobster exhibit in the future but never expected an opportunity like this to crawl in.

LCTV got an exclusive look at this colored crustacean and spoke with the Director of Living Collections, Andy Allison:

“We were called by Hy-vee in Ankeny, where they have their distribution center. They received a shipment of lobsters just like normal, but one of them was an odd color. They contacted us to start the process of finding it a new home.”

The lobster is very happy inĀ its new home and will possibly be on display within the next two years.
