Jackson County Detention Center escapees arrested in Clinton
CLINTON, IA – Authorities have found the two inmates that escaped from the Jackson County Detention Center on Tuesday, February 28.
Andrew Combs and Brian Willey were apprehended in Clinton, Iowa.
The two inmates escaped from the Jackson County Detention Center exercise yard after they pried open a hydraulic door. Three other inmates who were in the yard at the time stayed behind.
That same day, Maquoketa Police Department Dispatch Center was notified of a stolen truck from West Platt St.
On Wednesday, March 1, The Clinton Police Department along with the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office found the 2012 Ford F250 truck that was reported stolen.
Inside the truck was a pair of orange shorts.
Investigators continued to follow leads, which led them to Blain’s Farm and Fleet in Clinton, Iowa on Wednesday. Through surveillance video, deputies confirmed that the two escapees were in the store and left with a stolen item.
On Monday, March 6, the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office was notified that they two escapees had been arrested in Clinton. The apprehension was made by Clinton Police Department, Camanche Police Department, Clinton County Sheriff’s Office, and the Iowa State Patrol.
The two inmates are being held in the Clinton County Detention Center awaiting initial appearances and the pending criminal charges.
Those charges are Escape and Criminal Mischief.
