First Generation College Students

If you were to look around an average college campus you wouldn’t be able to tell whose parents attended college.

Being a first generation scholar comes with different challenges for each student and one of Loras’ students, Daniela Delgado,¬†experiences this first hand. On top of the daily stresses of a college student, Delgado feels the added pressures from being the first in her family to attend college.

Loras’ new First Generation Scholars Program started this year, headed by Sergio Perez, is working to help students like Delgado feel more comfortable on campus.
