Active shooter instruction sheets hung around campus as precaution

DUBUQUE –┬áRun, Hide, Fight; this is what Loras wants you to do if there’s ever an active shooter on campus.

Signs are posted around campus explaining this procedure.

The sheets look a lot like tornado or fire drill instructions hanging on classroom doors.

Assistant Director of Campus Security Matt Saylor says the signs were put up this school year as a safety precaution.

He said, “It helps get them ready just in case there is something, it doesn’t mean that something is gonna happen.”

Security will send an email to students sometime this month to explain the sheets more clearly.

They also expect to have an active shooter drill in residents halls by the end of the month.
