DUBUQUE- Saturday, September 10, 2016, the Dubuque Alzheimer’s Association held the Walk To End Alzheimer’s. Hundreds of Dubuquers hit the pavement to raise money to contribute to the association and to help find a cure.
The 2.5 mile walk started and went through Bergfeld Recreational Area, before the walk started each attendant received a windmill to represent what they were walking for. Yellow, orange, purple and blue windmills were planted in the Promise Garden before the walk began.
This was the first year that the Alzheimer’s Association raised over $100,ooo to help families in need and to help find a cure. Over the last year, Theisen’s Home-Farm and Auto has been selling Forget-Me-Not paper flowers in honor of the Alzheimer’s Association. All of the proceeds totaled over forty thousand dollars to add to that final $100,000 mark.
