DUBUQUE – Women’s Lacrosse took on the Pioneers of Carroll University in the Rock Bowl on Tuesday April 5. The night started with Carroll’s Kailey Leahy scoring the first goal of the night. Senior Duhawk Kaitlyn Kutsch followed up with two goals of her own, bringing Loras up 2-1. The Duhawks kept the lead throughout the first half with Kutsch scoring 5 goals and Freshman Martha Venchus scoring the first goal of her career with an assist from Molly Johnson. First half ends with the Duhawks up 7-4.
In the second half, the Duhawks try to keep their momentum going from the first. Ariannah Ritter of Carroll helps out her team cutting their deficit 7-5. Kutsch is not far behind and once again puts one in the net. And Freshman Emily O’Keefe also scores her first in her career. Carroll attempts a comeback with Leahy and her teammate Betty Koenig each scoring twice, but the Duhawks pull through. Taking this win 11-10.
Duhawks will take on Benedictine in Lisle, Illinois this Friday at 6 pm.
