DUBUQUE – There was a storm in Dubuque last Friday night as the Fighting Saints took on the Thunder from Bloomington.
In the finale of a four-game home stand, the Saints looked to complete a season sweep of Bloomington.
The Saints took the lead early in the first with a fluttered shot from league leading goal scorer Colin Theisen.
The Thunder’s Ethan Somoza would knot it up at one six minutes later but the Saints fan were’t discouraged.
The game would stay tied throughout the rest of regulation time in what became a chippy defensive battle.
In the end it was a late overtime power play goal from Walker Duehr winning it for Bloomington 2-1.
The Saints will return home this Friday against their rival the Waterloo Black Hawks.
