Dubuque Fighting Saints Play Overseas

The Fighting Saints were given the opportunity to represent the United States in the World Junior Club Cup held in Omsk, Russia.

After winning the Clark Cup this past May, the Fighting Saints were invited to compete in the tournament with some of the best junior hockey club teams from around the world from the 24th to the 31st of August. The tournament consisted of eight teams split into two groups of four. Each team played the other teams in their group and the top two teams from each group advanced to a semifinal and the opportunity to compete for a medal. Waterloo was given the same opportunity last year.

The Fighting Saints played five games in which defenseman Alexx Privitera led the team in scoring with 4 goals and 2 assists. Andrew Gaus added 4 goals and 1 assist while Seamus Malone and Robby Darrar both added 2 goals and 2 assists.

In goal, Christian Frey started 3 games allowing 7 goals with 1 shutout while Arthur Brey allowed 6 goals in 2 games.

The Saints returned home this past Sunday with a bronze medal and an experience they will never forget.
