Behind the Mask: Jaxon Castor
For three seasons Jaxon Castor has been in net for the Dubuque Fighting Saints.
“Having all the guys around, the camaraderie, makes Dubuque so much fun.” said Castor.
Jaxon came in three seasons ago as The Saints back up goalie playing behind Hunter Miska, who is now with the Arizona Coyotes organization.
“The way he (Miska) competed, not giving up on pucks, really rubbed off on me.”
When Jaxon got the nod to start his second season, he didn’t disappoint.
With a record of 30-13 and 4 shutouts, he lead his team to a playoff berth yet again.
“Jaxon is an all around athlete. He can throw a football, hit a baseball, hit a golf ball. He can do a lot of things that others can’t.” said goalie coach Matt Millar.
“I think I’m mentally strong, and my work ethic separates me from other goalies.” said Castor.
Millar also adds that the athleticism Castor has translates directly into goaltending.
Jaxon Castor has a promising future as a goaltender and looks to keep his game strong throughout the season.
