The Loras College Activities Board kicked off a new school year with their annual Loras After Dark event held on the Loras Parkway on Sept. 16 from 9-11 p.m.
This popular event draws many students every year. To entertain, there was free Buffalo Wild Wings, Carlos O’Kelly’s nachos, and a sundae bar for students to enjoy. When students weren’t taking advantage of all of the free food, they were able to dance the night away with a live DJ, take memorable photos in a photobooth, make their own personalized street signs, and even get the chance to dunk some of Loras’ most popular faces in a dunk tank.
One person that many students enjoyed dunking was Dean of Students, Dr. Art Sunleaf
“I was expecting the water to be colder than it was,” Sunleaf said. “It was actually warm and much better to be in than sitting in the cold air waiting for an accurate throw to hit the target.”
This event is designed to give students of all years the chance to have something fun after a hectic first few weeks of the semester. Loras After Dark is an opportunity that many students use every year to enjoy some time with friends, and this year’s was just as successful.
“Everything was amazing; the food, the music, and the people,” sophomore Lizz Parsons said. “I’m excited to go to more CAB events this year!”
Even the faculty who attended had a great time, despite the fact that many ended up in the dunk tank. However, to see the students enjoy themselves, it was well worth it.
“It is difficult for me to say no to students who ask me to be a part of their programs,” Sunleaf said. “It was fun to be a part of this positive event and watching our students having a good time.”
The next CAB event will be hosting the acapella group Six Appeal. It will take place on Friday, Sept. 23, at 8 p.m. in the ACC ballrooms.
