The Loras Swimming and Diving team had fierce competition at their final meet of the season.
Last week, the team traveled to Elsah, Illinois to compete at the 2017 Liberal Arts Championships hosted by Principia College.
Going up against 11 teams on the women’s side and 9 teams for the men, the Duhawks placed 6th overall. Victories include sophomore Mikaela Lengwin dominating both the 1 and 3 meter diving, and junior Ike Casey destroying the 50 and 100 yard freestyle, earning him a chance to compete at Nationals.

It was also a record-breaking weekend for the Duhawks. A total of 7 school records were broken, and include the men’s 200 and 400 yard Medley Relay, 100 yard Breaststroke, and 100 yard Backstroke. On the women’s side, records include the 2oo yard Medley relay and the 100 and 200 yard Backstroke.
While the season has come to an end for the team, swimmer Mac Faldet has one more shot to qualify for Nationals in the 100 and 200 yard Breaststroke. He will be competing for those spots at The Last Chance Invite next Sunday, February 26th in Grinnell, Iowa.
