Dubuque, IA-On October 20th around 11:59 P.M., Dubuque Police responded to a call for multiple gun shots at the corner of 21st and Jackson Street.
16-year-old Demarcus Timmons was transported immediately to Finely Hospital where he was evaluated and released Monday morning.
The other victim 15-year-old Marlon Barber was transported to Mercy Medical Center where passed away.
Michelle Weese lives on Jackson Street and says she knew Barber. “He was a great kid…….every time he came into my house he was respectful.” “He was just 15, he was just a baby.”
Nevertheless, the lost was felt by the whole community as 150 people showed up for a vigil to honor Barber.
Although the Dubuque Police assure there is not threat to the area, Weese has decided to leave the neighborhood.
Lt. Scott Baxter of Dubuque Police stresses there is no indication this is gang related and are actively searching for more leads to the case. “Our priority right now is identifying those responsible and seeking justice for the loved ones and their family and friends.”
Since last week, two warrants have been issued on the case but so far no arrest has been made.
