Helpful Tips for Winterizing Your Home
If you’re trying to keep warm during the unpredictable winter weather, we have a few tips for you.
Larry Scharner at Steve’s Ace says it’s best to start with your windows. “No house is 100% absolutely air tight but the more air tight you can make it, the better it is for keeping that old man Winter out.”
One easy fix is to pick up a clear insulation kit and wrap your windows on the outside. It’s essentially an extra storm window that’ll keep the cold air out and you’ll hardly know it’s there. You should also fill all gaps around your windows with insualtion or caulk. And the best part, all of this can be done cheaply.
“Whatever you spend here is going to pay for itself the first month or two of winter,” Tscharner added.
Other helpful tips include removing A/C window units and cleaning your air filter once every 4 to 6 weeks.
