DUBUQUE- The start of March marked a ten cent hike on gas. Last week, Governor Terry Branstad signed off on a new gas tax. The tax is expected to raise two hundred million dollars to help improve roads and bridge projects across the state. One customer, Randy Marshall, expressed his opinion on the tax saying, “Honestly, I don’t think it’s fair, I guess the point was that they’re actually going to do something with it and see improvements but I don’t know if we ever will or not. I mean it’s just to me I think it’s an excuse to raise gas.”
Some stations raised their prices when the governor made his announcement, while others waited until Sunday to make the change.
