Fire on campus

DUBUQUE – Early this morning a fire broke out around five o’clock in the North corner of the 4th floor in the Visitation Complex. Lightning was said to have struck the roof and with high-paced winds the fire spread quickly. Although firefighters were quick to arrive, heavy damage was done to the top two floors. Water damage has been said to spread the damage to the bottom two floors.

Roughly 40 students lived in the building and all students were evacuated safely. The college is making plans to provide alternative housing. All classes in the Visitation have been cancelled for today.
