Dubuque,IA-This weekend Dubuque Police held an open house and reception celebrating their anniversary.
Current police officers were on hand to teach about guns, tactical equipment, forensics, and old communication gear.
Mark Kisting spent 34 years with the department and is dubbed as “the police historian” based on his knowledge of the department. When the department moved from City Hall in 1975, Kisting was able to save old artifacts and pictures from the garbage.
Kisting also donated an old 1938 Chevy Stylemaster Patrol Car to the city and for the past couple years a couple officers have been restoring the car. The car was ready to display at the event this weekend.
Dubuque Police have been working on this project for almost 2 years.
