DUBUQUE- The weather couldn’t have been much better this weekend for the 29th annual Dragon Boat Festival. 44 teams came out to Miller Riverview Park from all over the tri-state area to race their dragon boats down the Mississippi. The teams consisted of both junior and senior boaters, as well as breast cancer survivors. The races went smoothly despite record high water levels this year.
“A lot of people are into it. They go all over the world to do dragon boat racing and I just thought it’d be a fun thing to pick up,” said second-time boater, Paul Benham.
Event organizers encourage anyone who may be interested in dragon boat racing to find a team and join in on the fun.
