LORAS COLLEGE – As any other student, Mark Fuentebella was working on a project for a class. At first it didn’t turn out as he wanted, but to his surprise, his work ended up receiving some national attention.
Fuentebella recently learned he was named a finalist in the 34th Annual College & High School Photography Contest, co-sponsored by Photographer’s Forum Magazine and Nikon. Fuentabella’s photo was chosen out of more than 16,600 photographs submitted by students in the United States and Canada. It will be featured in a full-color, hard-bound publication titled “Best of College & High School Photography.”
The photograph that will be published is part of a series the artist created about cigarettes. Fuentebella says his vision was to turn the idea of cigarettes being a bad habit into an aesthetic piece that people might not expect.
